  • Essay / Reflective Essay on Racism - 961

I treat others with respect because although some white people believe in outdated notions that they are the superior race, there are those who are respectable and considerate of others. There are white Americans who care about the less privileged and mistreated people in the world. So I slowly drifted away from my preconceived thinking that a healthy, respectful relationship could not be established with someone of a different race than me. But currently, I feel like discrimination between different racial groups is increasing in America due to the offensive messages broadcast nationally during Donald Trump's presidential campaign. He exclusively uses illegal immigrants from Mexico as scapegoats for American crimes and denounces various other races. His regressive ideas make national headlines virtually every day, and this country's progress toward racial equality appears to be petering out thanks to him. I am trying to deal with this discrimination against people of my race and others and hope that the American people will wise up and stop supporting it. I truly fear for the future of America as I watch its rallies and the way its protesters of color are treated. Discrimination is not limited to those present but also to those watching it unfold.
