    Technology has been a part of Americans' lives for several years and continues to improve. This gave society an easier way to communicate with family and friends with one simple device, the cell phone. A cell phone is the most common type of technology used by all groups of people, including parents, teenagers, and even young children. The number of people owning cell phones also continues to increase, causing a huge distraction in society. Cell phones seem to belong to a person because they depend on their phone for almost everything. Although the cell phone was invented for beneficial purposes, people have completely misused this device, which has had negative effects on their lives, including the people around them. The cell phone was first introduced due to the improvement and simplification of communication. With this device, people could make a quick phone call or send text messages. After the access to communication, a new type of cell phone was launched called a "smart phone", which offered a wide variety of entertainment, including access to the Internet, games and different types of applications. A smartphone is what seems to be the most popular device a person can own these days. Not only do almost every American have one, but they're probably addicted to it as well. In an article by Lauren D. Laporta, she states: “Surveys indicate that more than 203 million Americans own a cell phone and up to 30% say they cannot live without it (Laporta). » Having access to the Internet, adolescents generally spend their time on different types of social media. There are applications on these smartphones that allow a person to access media such as Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.
