Literature ReviewTo date, much research has been conducted in the area. Integrating the SmartBoard into the classroom is an effective teaching technique for three reasons. The first is that an interactive whiteboard motivates and engages students. Additionally, this technology helps students organize material, which provides cognitive benefits. Thanks to these two elements, student results are better when a SmartBoard is used. In the following paragraphs, I will discuss what the research says about each area of improvement. SmartBoards are engaging The main reason why SmartBoards are successful in the classroom is that students enjoy using them, so they keep students' attention, for example, in its In a 2005 article, Reedy supports this idea when he states, “Students say whiteboards grab their attention and help them stay alert and focused in class” (Reedy, 2005). Reedy came to this conclusion after conducting a study of 73 elementary school students for the article A Whiteboard Success Story. This study found that interactive whiteboard software actually increased the motivation of students studying mathematics. (Reedy, 2005) One of the reasons smart boards can keep students awake is the facial rhythm created when an interactive whiteboard is used.
