His research led him to believe that while "obesity rates may be stable, fat distribution may be changing, which would mean we should not rest on our laurels in the face of the plateau." (Tanner) According to the Associated Press and CDC researchers, the National Institute of Public Health for the United States has seen an increase and obesity rates have doubled since.
