As a young child, we are all asked what we would like to be when we grow up. Usually the answer is a firefighter, police officer, or nurse. When I was a child, I changed my mind several times. At first I wanted to be Minnie Mouse, then a dancer. Then, about two years ago, I wanted to become a crime scene investigator. I had all my plans worked out. I was going to attend the University of Memphis and major in criminal justice. However, one day about a year ago, my mind completely changed. I decided to go in the completely opposite direction. I decided I wanted to become a cosmetologist. A cosmetologist is someone trained to help people look and feel their best. A person in this profession will need to be dedicated to customer service and understand current beauty trends. Cosmetologists may work in salons, spas, or be self-employed. Some cosmetologists work in all areas of cosmetology, while others focus only on certain areas such as nail care, hair care, or skin care. Certain skills are required in this area.
