The actual use of force may involve the attacker holding the victim on the ground until they submit or using physical force to inflict bodily harm until they submit. There is no doubt that social and interpersonal types of coercion dominate women in society. It would seem that these types of coercion could qualify as rape, but should not be, even if they are wrong. In the interest of intervening in the interests of domestic victims, it would be far more useful to limit this to the threat of physical force or the actual act of violence.
