The third and final prequel in George Lucas's Star Wars trilogy, Revenge of the Sith, is the midpoint of the Star Wars saga. It is the culmination of the Star Wars prequels and leads beautifully and seamlessly into the completion of the original trilogy. The original trilogy led to a happy ending with fireworks and celebratory scenes from different planets. The prequels tell a similar hero's journey, but instead of an affirming story about self-confidence, it's a dire warning about the dangers of arrogance and greed. It reminds us of the human values of fear, hatred, greed, pride and “not listening” that lead to the dark side. Compassion, love and non-violence are the true path to peace and justice. I believe this form of storytelling captivates the audience, making the story memorable for fans and, in my opinion, is a successful combination. The following paragraphs will discuss the narrative and similarities by comparing the original trilogy with the new trilogy and analyzing key directing elements used in particular scenes in the film. In doing so, I will discover how position, color, and framing express the message that George Lucas wants viewers to absorb and remember. The original Star Wars trilogy was explicitly designed to capture and introduce audiences to a new film, but the new Star Wars. The trilogy is clearly designed to please fans and introduce a new generation to the Star Wars franchise. The films have been extremely popular among all cultures and ages for several decades. In addition to being popular, Star Wars also conveys many important elements. I believe one of the most important themes is the narrative that is presented throughout the films like the classic hero's journey...... middle of paper...... color values and character placement , three elements of the staging. -scene, Revenge of the Sith intensely displays its ability to express emotion and drama. The use of framing allows George Lucas to convey messages of freedom or despair while the use of color values demonstrates the ideas of good versus evil. The placement of characters allows the director to display the power and meanings of each, determined by their location in the frame, whether at the top of the frame, at the bottom, in the center, or offset. The elements are capable of expressing the struggle of the Jedi and the greed of the Sith. The scene ends with a close-up of Anakin's piercing red eyes, symbols of fury, aggression and violence, which are hidden under the dark brown hood of his robes. Anakin's path to the dark side is complete and he himself transforms into a Sith. in the dreaded Darth Vader.
