Summarize the main points of the theory/theorist's arguments that you have read (1000 words)Marxism is considered a radically alternative vision to the development of the economy, philosophy, politics and sociology. theories of society in relation to other theories and theorists. Marxists tend to be more macrosociologists, focusing more on society at large and the material production within it, rather than the individuals within it. Craib, I (1997:36) says that with Marx comes the realization that human beings are not the creators of society, but rather the creature and are the product of the society into which they are born. In other words, we do not create society, but rather the society that shapes the people we are. This may be linked to the materialist conception of History. Marxists believe that the material and historical contexts in which an individual lives shape us. Although Marxists view us as subjects of social structures, we can also be agents of social change once we recognize that we belong to and are sometimes constrained by certain social classes. Craib, I (1997: 36) explains how Marx developed a unique idea of society. He highlighted the material conditions of people's lives and the importance of history. If our history and material context are manipulative, dominating and alienating, we should engage in a more unconstrained politics in order to create change. This must be done on a class basis and not through individual strategies. Marxism can be considered a political theory and have strong views on the role of capitalism within society.
