Essay / What is Beauty: Unrealistic and Unobtainable - 955
What is Beauty: Unrealistic and UnobtainableFor centuries, humanity has tried in vain to define beauty. Greek philosophers, including Plato, attempted to define beauty as if it were as simple as any other law of nature. However, this cannot be the case, because the idea of what is beautiful has varied across cultures and times. In the 1800s, pale and plump women were considered objects of desire; but in today's society, desirable women are, among other things, thin and tanned. The fact is that today, beauty is as inaccessible as it is indefinable. All of today's models, as seen in millions of advertisements, have been edited, retouched and retouched. Women desiring this beauty have turned to various sources of false remedies, spending thousands of dollars, in the hopes that they too can be beautiful. The media has twisted and twisted our ideal definition of beauty into something that doesn't exist naturally and is simply unattainable. Our brain is naturally attracted to certain things that are clean, smooth, symmetrical, things that it considers beautiful. This is a way many have tried to define beauty. Baltimore Sun journalist Mary Carole McCauley states in her article “Beauty and the Brain” (2010) that the human brain is “wired” to view certain objects as beautiful based on their shape, color and arrangement. . McCauley speaks with John Hopkins University and the Walters Art Museum to discuss their research on the brain's responses to beauty. These organizations are setting up an experiment to see how the brain defines things as beautiful. "Gallery guests pick up a clipboard and put on a pair of 3D glasses. They examine a series of 25 small drawings based on Renow's abstract sculptures....... middle of paper.... .. it has been enhanced, altered, retouched and computerized, creating a false and unattainable beauty. The "media truly distorts the truth and instills in women this false hope because, in essence, they will live their lives without ever truly achieving that appearance. ideal physique". Women are aware that such beauty is unreal, they will always strive to obtain it because it is the object with which their peers judge them. They do not feel accepted until that they can feel beautiful. Because the human perception of beauty is so unobtainable, many women resort to cosmetic surgery to feel beautiful. to have surgery, resort to eating disorders, all of which are extremely unhealthy. Society has distorted our view of what should and should not be acceptable, with beauty not being the only problem. However, beauty is the problem most felt by people today..
