Michael Namer Mr.ScheidResearch Paper` The Industrial RevolutionChanges in the Industrial RevolutionThe Industrial Revolution was the rapid growth of industrialization in Europe and later the United States. Beginning in England in the late 18th century, the Industrial Revolution was a time of great progress. Changes have taken place in almost every sector, including transportation, mining, textiles, etc. But it didn't stop there: changes were also made to the social world. All of these new ideas combined gave rise to what we know today as the Industrial Revolution.1 The Industrial Revolution, as noted above, began in Europe. This is perhaps one of the reasons for the rapid growth and success of the revolution. At the time, Europe was the ideal starting point. This is due to three main reasons. First of all, agriculture in this region was flourishing. This allowed the first “sparks” of innovation to occur. Second, because of this increased agriculture, the population of this region was larger. This created the minds and manpower behind the revolution. The combination of these three elements gave birth to the industrial revolution, enabling numerous inventions and innovations. One of the first and most important of these changes took place in the textile industry. The textile industry was the basis of the industrial revolution. Before the industrial revolution, the textile industry, or more precisely cotton, was carried out at home. This happened in a few steps. First, cotton was grown and harvested. Then the home process began. Workers called “spinners” took the cotton and shaped it into strands. These strands were the... middle of paper...... because at the time, thanks to machines, a worker only needed a small set of skills to complete a once-difficult job. They were also employed for their size. This was not without problems. Working children face difficult conditions. They were beaten and mistreated. They were also paid much less than any regular worker. 13Another idea born during the industrial revolution is that of a middle class. Previously, there were only two classes. The wealthy, which included the nobility and business owners. The second class was that of the peasants. That was almost everyone who wasn't included in the first class. With the creation of factories, a new class is created. This new middle class consisted of people who worked in places such as factories. People belonging to this class did not belong to either of the previous two classes. 14Another New Idea
