Essay / Is Man of Steel true to Superman's legacy? - 693
How close does Man of Steel hew to Superman's legacy, and are his changes for better or worse? Many fundamentalist fanatics have mixed feelings about Man of Steel and criticize director Zack Snyder due to the vast range in which the film's concept dates back to Superman's origins. Some fanatics question whether Snyder fully understands Superman's origins due to the film's far-fetched theory opposed to the comics. The disappointment left mixed feelings among the public. Some express that the twists and turns were an interesting addition to the films; while others think the story should stay the same. The film completely moves away from Superman's origins. Zack Snyder made massive inaccuracies due to Superman not gaining his full potential powers until three-quarters of the way through the film, not caring about the citizens, and, most importantly, executing General Zod. about Superman or a mysterious bearded man who protects people once every ten years of his life? One problem with the film lies in the first hour of the film - in which the film, up until that point, had yet to truly make Superman a hero. Unlike the original Superman in which Superman would be fully developed in the first scene of the film. In addition to his fully developed powers, Superman would also have already established his nemesis. This action shot took way too long and, while understanding that the director wanted to have a solid background of Clark Kent as well as Kal-El, this action could have been more direct. In Man of Steel, Clark Kent should have transformed into Superman and shown the world who he really is and...... middle of paper ......m. However, in Man of Steel, he did the unthinkable: he killed a life form, that life form being General Zod. The fanatics were outraged at the sight of this scene, and they have the right to be. The decision was bad and almost ruined the entire film. Ultimately, the decision made by the director to change Man of Steel from the original comics was a bad choice, as Superman did not reach his full potential for a long time, he contains no concern for the citizens, and he murders a life form. The director, Zack Snyder, changed this film to try to appeal to different generations, but he didn't consider the original fanatics. The original fanatics are the ones who created this series as it is today. Granted, Man of Steel was overall an enjoyable movie to watch, but the fact that it doesn't follow the comics angers original Superman enthusiasts..
