One characteristic is that I am a woman. Because the assumed norm is an able-bodied white male of upper-middle class status, being a woman would put me in the category of gender oppression. To begin with, derogatory vocabulary is used in a very negative way towards a promiscuous woman while the exact same vocabulary can be used towards a man and he is praised for his actions. Additionally, some women still fall victim to the stereotype that they should cook, clean and raise the family while their partner earns money to support the household.
