The art or practice of communicating information through photographs and journalism where photographs are the predominant element is called photojournalism. It is the process of illustrating news through photography. Photojournalism is one step ahead of an individual's thoughts or mental inspirations; it's deeper than just a picture of a dog, a car, or even a Christmas tree this time of year. There is a fundamental history and roots behind photojournalism and each photo can mean so many different things to different people. There may be important meaning behind an image for one person, but it may mean something completely different to someone else who is looking at the image at the exact same moment. Photojournalism has touched many people and influenced and motivated them to strive for success. Photojournalism can be seen in a minimal role, as an entire novel with a single image without words to describe that image, or it can be as voluminous as a magazine filled with meaningful images. It can describe a story, a journey, a struggle, a joy or even a life. Photojournalism can be defined as so many things, so the important and key question is: what does photojournalism mean to you? In 1925, something extraordinary happened that changed the way society perceived things for the rest of the time. This event marks the beginning of the birth of modern photojournalism in Germany. The first step was the invention of the “Leica”, the first 35mm camera. The invention of this camera was revolutionary for all photographers. Before the invention of this camera, photographers and their assistants had to carry a lot of bulky and bulky equipment, making it difficult to travel to the event that needed to be photographed quickly.
