Canadian television, films and radio are often compared to American media, which contain distinctly American substance. Thus, Canadian identity and culture are greatly influenced by content from the United States. Furthermore, Canada has a rich and diverse culture with its own economic systems, ideologies and political processes, lifestyles and social mores (Statistics Canada, 2013). It is therefore up to Canadian regulations to motivate its citizens to adopt a more Canadian identity and to dissuade them from Americanization.
