  • Essay / Becoming a Member of the National Honor Society

Achieving my goal of becoming a member of the National Honor Society would give me a great sense of pride, both academically and personally. As a person, I have ambition, academic excellence and great decision-making skills to offer the NHS. For example, since being inducted into the National Junior Honor Society, I have strived to do my best to have a chance to be a part of the NHS. I show it with my 4.0 GPA that I have held for six consecutive quarters. This shows my determination to be part of an organization that will improve this community for future generations. Additionally, I would be very excited to gain new experience in leadership, community activities and extracurricular activities. When I was in the National Junior Honor Society, I accepted as many opportunities as I could; I participated in activities such as: spray painting recycling bins, painting recycling boxes, sorting paper after school, and ringing the Christmas bell for the Salvation Army by singing Christmas carols. Additionally, I should be a member of the National Honor Society because I make the right choices in everyday life. Many students across the country make the choice to use drugs, alcohol, or tobacco, but I can honestly say that I do not use any of these substances. Not only do these substances pose a danger to personal health, but they also pose a danger to the health of the people around them, and each person making the choice to stay away from these substances keeps society a little safer and a little healthier. Overall, my academic excellence, ambition and ability to make impeccable decisions show that I would be an exceptional member of the NHS. When someone carries the leadership trait, they can guide or direct others...... middle of paper. .... persuade adults who smoke to stop. When I see an adult smoking, I sometimes ask them if they know all the risks, then give them some facts about the danger. In this effort, I serve the community by striving to keep people healthier. Finally, I show my service to my school through the help I provided while I was in the National Junior Honor Society. As a member of NJHS, I helped our middle school start a recycling program; I helped prepare recycling boxes and bins, gather paper throughout the school, and sort paper after school. Through this, I show my dedication to my school and my community, because not only does recycling help the school reduce waste, but it also allows the environment's resources to last longer. For these reasons, I would be an excellent, determined and helpful member, more than willing to be of service to my school and community..
