Essay / Music Through the Generations - 1233
All music has changed enormously over the years. Each generation has several specific songs that define that generation. Each song has different lyrics that describe the emotions felt by the artists. The songs connect to each individual in different ways. The lyrics of a song are what make music wonderful. Each song touches someone, for example by teaching them a life lesson or touching their heart. Every generation has music that impacts the world by motivating people to do certain things or defining a person's personality. Every generation has music that defines it. When music is created, it incorporates the cultural and emotional situations that occur in everyday life. People create dances to transform music. For example, comedian Judson Laipply created “the evolution of dance.” This dance integrates different genres, songs and dances from each generation. It shows dances that people have created over time to interact with the rhythms of the songs. These two videos show perfect examples of how people have created their own way of connecting to different music. Both videos show how music has evolved over time. Judson incorporated songs that defined past generations and songs that defined millennials. Each video shows how people have integrated music into their daily lives. Even though some of the music in these dance videos is from years ago, many young adults still recognize and know these songs. The songs are so popular with many generations only because they defined generations. Millennials have revolutionized the way people think about and create music. “The world sees millennials as generation x on steroids (Sophia Yan).” Adults and adolescents... middle of paper ......-Millennials.
