Essay / Personal Essay: The Most Important Challenges of My Life
Actually, I only learned English in high school. I only knew a few words of English when I arrived in the United States of America. I was barely able to read or write. I remember when I would tell myself “I am the bathroom” instead of “I had to use the bathroom”. While everyone made fun of me for my poorly spoken English, I was discouraged from continuing to learn English. However, an after school extracurricular activity, the ACE club woke me up from my depression. ACE was short for Asian Culture Exchange Club. This club was run by a group of foreign students like me. They teach cultural difference and leadership through service to others. Once a week I can talk about my problems and anything that seems difficult for me to deal with. ACE members considered me English and encouraged me to speak to foreigners in English and become friends with them. The ACE club has not only helped me, but also help others become more confident in their daily lives. The ACE club made me realize that people worry too much about what's going on outside and not about people's charisma or personality.
