The two shots that show Solomon riding the streetcar have him looking through small peepholes cut into the whitewashed windows of the trolley. From there he sees a woman who he thinks is his mother and there is nothing he can do, because if he makes a scene and tries to go see her, then he will be discovered and most likely he will will encounter a tragedy.
