Essay / The Human Stain by Philip Roth - 947
“The Human Stain” is one of the greatest works and the author Philip Roth also created a wonderful story, which I had a great time reading it . Roth Philip uses one of the interesting themes in his book such as love, identity and also family. By using these themes in his book, he created one of the most interesting American stories. In this book, there is a narrator, Nathan Zuckerman, who tells the story of his friend Coleman Silk, a very talented professor and also dean of Athena College. He started the story at the time when there was talk of the President of the United States, Bill Clinton, and the scandal with Monica Lewis. “The Human Stain” is a very good book and its action is quite direct. When, Nathan Zuckerman tells the story of professor Coleman Silk who was accused of racism after talking about his two students and calling them "ghosts." But Coleman Silk also has another secret: he comes from a black family and he never revealed his secret to his colleagues, friends, and even he never told his wife and children. It's the shocking surprise of Coleman's true identity and secret history that Nathan Zuckerman follows in "The Human Stain." But by the end of the story, narrator Nathan Zuckerman has figured out Coleman's secret and his identity that he hasn't revealed to anyone. The author's writings on identity, such as when Coleman hides his secret that he is from a black family and changes his identity to Jewish, makes each reader question his own identity and the elements that affect the recreation of these identities. Coleman explains to his mother that he is leaving his family and plans to marry a white woman. When Coleman refuses his father... middle of paper ... the story of "The Human Stain" seems to be a direct narrative, and according to reader reviews, we understand that the writer wrote the book. with a brilliant and intelligent person in mind. This book deals with the past and the present and it is also about reality which offers us an impressive reflection of what we could learn from each other. At the end of the story, the narrator has reached an unexpected conclusion, having these experiences that reveal his own personal thoughts. The personal nature is one of the reasons why the ending of the book retains such significant significance. For the reader, the story is illustrated by the way in which the text addresses themes very close to certain people in this world. By contrasting the characters in this story, author Philip Roth uses to illustrate the world that suggests responsibility and obligation.
